The Chainsmokers Pause to Pay Tribute to Avicii at the 2018 Billboard Awards Ceremony

Sunday was a big night for the music industry and music fans. The 2018 Billboard Awards ceremony was held in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand Hotel. There were great performances by John Legend, Christina Aguilera, Demi Lovato, and many more. Janet Jackson was presented with the Billboard Icon Award and also performed some of her greatest hits.

Kelly Clarkson was the host and began the award ceremony by honoring the recent shooting victims at Santa Fe High School in Texas. The recognition of tragedy continued as The Chainsmokers; Alex Pall and Drew Taggart; walked on the stage with Halsey to present the Top Hot 100 Song of 2018. As the audience grew silent, the three singers shared a sentimental and thoughtful moment for their friend and collaborator, Avicii.

Avicii recently lost his life after battling a mental health issue. Drew gave an unscripted honor to the Swedish DJ and music producer, by telling the audience that Avicii inspired The Chainsmokers to do EDM music and said that he meant a lot to the duo group. Haley echoed the statements by saying in part, “Everyone who worked with [Avicii] would say that he was such a joy…” Halsey went on to encourage the viewing audience to support family and friends that are suffering from mental illness and to love them.

Luis Fonsi was given the Award for Top Hot 100 Song of 2018, for the hit song “Despacito.” The song was a hit crossover single for Latin music and pop culture.

Alex and Drew returned to the stage later in the evening to accept the Award for Top Dance/Electronic. It is the first time that the Billboard Awards has recognized an artist for the combined category. During the acceptance speech, they both shared the award with Avicii, with an emotional Drew stating, “We want to dedicate this award to Avicii. He is someone who made us believe that this is something we could do with our lives. [He] inspired all of us and influenced our music and influence pop music in general.” The two of them never spoke about producers, agents or managers during the heartfelt speech, which was very notable.

The Chainsmokers are currently working on their second studio album, which will be titled “Somebody.”

Kim Doa and Sarah Arrive in Sydney Day Before K com Semiar

On September 21, 2017, Kim Doa took a plane from Perth, Australia to Sydney, Astralia for their K Com Festival. Kim Doa was supposed to have four presentations over the two day seminar. Kim Doa arrived at about 6:30 a.m and had breakfast while she waited for her friend Sarah’s plane to arrive in Sydney. Kim Doa had an avocado breakfast sandwich with some cheese and sausage patty. She had a fiber drink that looked like orange juice. Doa and Sarah dropped their bags off at the hotel and strolled along the streets, window shopping. There were many eating places that weren’t yet open; Kim Doa wasn’t hungry. One place that was open served some sort of drink with small sticky orange buns and a choice of strawberries and raspberries or some mints and M&M’s. The shop also served the buns plain, in a cup. Sarah bought a plain one and let Doa have a bite. Learn more:
